Versilia

The coastal area of Tuscany located in the northwest of the province of Lucca up to Massa-Carrara, named after the Versilia River. Particularly known for the fashionable seaside resorts and numerous beach clubs attended by local celebrities. Versilia, at the same time a fashionable and pleasant region, is only known to most from the gossip magazines. But this stretch of coast in the province of Lucca, which stretches behind the foothills of the Apuan Alps, is especially famous for its beaches. The Versilia consists of long stretches of fine sand beaches mainly between Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio and the unique dunes, especially between Viareggio and Torre del Lago. The most important places are the exclusive Forte dei Marmi, the cozy Viareggio, the artists’ village of Marina di Pietrasanta and Lido di Camaiore.
